About the Race

Firecracker-highmarkPlans have been finalized for the 2016 Fourth of July Firecracker Race to be held as part of the Independence Day Festivities in Ripley.

The 11:30 AM July 4 race, sponsored by  Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of WV and  Main Street Ripley will begin just prior to the grand parade that travels through downtown Ripley. More than 100 runners participated last year.

Again this year cash prizes will be awarded to the top two race finishers in both thelogo men’s and women’s division with $100 going to the first place runner. Trophies will be presented to the top three racers in the following age divisions; 14 and under; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60+; 200-220lb Clydesdale; and 220+ super Clydesdale.

The early entry fee for the two-miler race is just $18, and the first 100 participants to register will receive a t-shirt. Entry fee the day of the race is $20.

Registration will be accepted the day of the race beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church located on the corner of North and Court Streets.
